Gloucestershire County Council
Gloucestershire County Council instructed Total Lighting & Controls to upgrade the lighting in two classrooms and the main hall at Bledington School in the Cotswolds. The instructions also included the complete rewire of the office, the head teacher’s office and rooms on the first floor above. A replacement fuse board was also installed.
The Kessle LED luminaire was the recommended luminaire for the lighting upgrade, with a lumen output ranging from 4500 lumens up to 8500 lumens, to provide an average illuminance of 400 lux in all areas. Annual savings of 47% were predicted on the running costs for the classrooms and hall. Microwave movement sensors were also installed to turn lights off automatically when the areas are left unoccupied to enhance the annual savings.
Both classrooms had their lighting circuits rewired during the installation and remedial work was undertaken on electrical circuits that had failed during periodic inspection.
The work was undertaken during the summer holidays and completed within the two-week timescale allocated.
