Total Lighting & Controls have recently completed the upgrade of fluorescent lighting to LED at the John Moore Primary School in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire.
There were a total of 237 fluorescent light fittings which required upgrade. These were situated in classrooms, offices, staff room, corridors, circulation areas and the hall.
The recommendation was to replace the old fluorescent light fittings with LED battens and LED bulkhead luminaires with various light outputs to suit the area. The existing electrical load of 16.3kW was reduced to 6.8kW, and monetary saving of over £2,400.00 per annum were estimated, which equates to 59% against the old fluorescent lights. Light levels were designed to meet 300 – 500 lux average illuminance depending on the area.
