Waterways Museum Gloucester

Waterways Museum GloucesterMER Services Ltd invited Total Lighting & Controls to tender for the supply and installation of the new lighting system in The Waterways Museum Gloucester. The museum had received funding to undertake a complete renovation of the ground and first floor. MER undertook the building works and the installation of the new displays. Total Lighting & Controls installed the new lighting system and the electrics with sub contractors Slatter Electrical.

The electrical supply was taken from the existing bus bar system in the ceiling to supply power to the new lighting tracks. LED spotlights were then installed to provide light for the visitors and to illuminate some of the displays. The bus bar system also provided the power to the emergency lighting system and the sockets installed throughout the museum for visual and audio aids, plus the shop and reception.

The exhibition display cases are illuminated by LED lighting tape carefully installed within the structure, and the wiring concealed within the metal framework. Vintage pendants are installed on the first floor for illumination, and pendant globes in the shop, all having vintage LED lamps for effect. The lantern from Sharpness Docks sited on the ground floor now has power to it for the LED lamp which provides a great feature.

Total Lighting & Controls are extremely proud to have undertaken such a prestigious project at The Waterways Museum.
